Princess Adopted from SICSA as a puppy; returned because she jumps the fence. PREVIOUS HOME: Lived with a family with 5 children from the ages of 3 years to 11 years and another dog. PERSONALITY: Princess was not socialized out of the home when she was a puppy and as a result is very fearful of meeting unfamiliar people and handling by people she does not know. She was described as housetrained by her former owner. She did not have any training and developed problem behaviors such as jumping the 3 ft fence, digging and running the neighborhood. She has not been crate trained and was left alone in a Florida room when her family was gone. She would chew and so ended up outside where she learned unwanted behaviors. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: Princess is in the process of being evaluated for adoption and needs re-habilitation.
Clementine Found as a stray; unable to locate an owner-- PREVIOUS HOME: Unknown PERSONALITY: Clementine is a sweet, active puppy. Aussies are high energy dogs that need active training and a job. Left to their own devices, they will find things that interest them that are not in the owner's best interest! Clementine has been around other dogs, cats and the finder's grandchildren. She will run and nip at small children so she would be best placed with older children or an Aussie experienced home. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: Active home willing to do training classes and socialize her for at least her first two years.
James Surrendered by owner of 5 years because they moved from the country to the city with 3 other dogs-- PREVIOUS HOME: James was used to being left in a crate for up to 8 hrs a day in his former home. He was described as housetrained by his former owner -- pacing by the back door when he needed to go out. He is good with cats and other dogs. He did not live with children. He loves toys and would collect them under a table in his former home. He does drop when asked. He did not try to get on furniture. He tolerates baths and nail trims. PERSONALITY: James is a friendly lab, not a high energy, in your face dog. He does retrieve and will drop or allow you to take a ball from his mouth. He is active and energetic but not over the top. BEST MATCH FOR A HOME: James would do best in a home that is able to provide interactive exercise (fetch, walks etc). He is a great age (5 years) and is past the puppy stage but has many years left to offer companionship!
Vivien Transferred from a shelter South of here with her 6 week old puppy. PREVIOUS LIFE: Unknown PERSONALITY: Her foster family reports her to be very friendly and cuddly with humans, friendly with unfamiliar dogs. She will dig under a fence to get out so should be supervised when in a fenced yard. She has periods of playfulness and then crashes and sleeps a lot. BEST POSSIBLE MATCH FOR A HOME: Vivien will do well in any make-up of family type as long as she is supervised when outside and included in her new family's daily life and activities.
