The lockdown lasted about 10 minutes. This was “out of precaution” and provided the staff an opportunity to practice its safety procedures and protocols as an ongoing effort to keep students and staff safe, the district said.
The lockdown has been lifted and school activity will continue as normal, said spokeswoman Elizabeth Beadle.
A call of a suspicious person attempting to break into a home on Ben Harrison Street was received at about 11:30 a.m., according to police. The suspect allegedly ran from the scene. Police are still in the area looking for the man.
