Police: Cash, cigarettes stolen from Middletown market

A man allegedly broke into BJ’s Market, 427 Baltimore St., and stole $100 in cash and five cartons of cigarettes Sunday morning, according to police reports.

When Middletown police officers arrived, they said the front glass to the door was pushed in and it was lying on the floor inside. Later, an employee was allowed to enter the store, and she told officers it appeared some cigarettes were missing.

When the owner showed police surveillance footage, they noticed a man wearing all black, gray tennis shoes, a black toboggan and a red bandana entering the store between 1:30 and 1:45 a.m. The man was seen stealing some cigarettes, police said.

The video also showed someone else entering the store.

Police are continuing to investigate the burglary.
