Police reports: Statues of Mary and Joseph stolen

There were 164 DVD movies and a Blu-Ray DVD player, valued at $4,174, stolen before 4:30 a.m. from Walmart, 2900 Towne Blvd. Video surveillance shows two women and five men going back to the DVD area and concealing the movies, and one of the subjects concealed the Blu-Ray player.

A set of headphones were stolen before 5 a.m. from Meijer, 3651 Towne Blvd. Police said two women and five men, similar to the ones who allegedly stole items at Walmart on the same day, stole a pair of headphones, valued at $50.

Someone stole a laptop before 3 p.m. from a home in the 800 block of Auburn Street.

A 32-year-old Middletown man was arrested at 9:58 p.m. at UDF, 101 N. Verity Parkway on suspicion of petty theft. Police say he stole four packages of candy. The man also had two bench warrants out of Middletown Municipal Court.

Two piggy banks, with about $100 total, and a clarinet were stolen before 3:21 p.m. from a home in the 3200 block of Raymond Drive.

Eight HP laptops computers were reported stolen from LifeSkills Education Center, 641 S. Breiel Blvd. The laptops, which were issued to students, have been disappearing the last two years. The computers are issued by a company. They are valued at $1,120.

A man who was staying at The Inn at Renaissance Village, 4375 Union Road, said he left $60 in his room, and when he returned from the hospital, the money was gone.

Two 16-inch rims and tires were stolen from outside a garage in the 300 block of Baltimore Street.

A Middletown man, James Cook, 33, of Columbia Avenue, was charged with drug abuse/methamphetamine, driving under suspension, drug paraphernalia, turn signal and open flask after he was stopped at the intersection of First Avenue and South University Boulevard. When police were doing an inventory of his vehicle, before it was towed, they found methamphetamine and two glass pipes in the pouch of his computer bag. His passenger, Danielle Carr, 25, of Columbia Avenue, was arrested for her warrants through Middletown Municipal Court and the Ohio State Patrol.

A Middletown woman, Sondra Sorrell, 35, of Carriage Drive, was charged with petty theft after she allegedly marked out the prices of items with a black marker and left Walmart, 2900 Towne Blvd. When she was stopped by her vehicle by the store’s loss prevention officer, the officer noticed all the tags were marked out. The items were worth $350.95.

An Android LG Smartphone was reported missing from an apartment in the 3900 block of Helton Drive.

Feb. 27

A cement statue of Mary and Joseph was stolen from a yard in the 4800 block of Lefferson Road. The statues are valued at $350.
