A man Middletown police say is a “known dealer” is back in jail after an incident Wednesday that resulted in the recovery of fentanyl and cash.

Drey Lewis, 24, no address given, was observed driving a vehicle under suspension and Middletown police officers attempted to stop the vehicle, according to an arrest report. The vehicle traveled a short distance and struck a median at a gas station.

An investigation revealed Lewis threw approximately eight grams of fentanyl to his girlfriend and the mother of his child to conceal, according to Middletown police. In the car’s backseat was an infant. Lewis was also found to be in possession of $2,200 in cash, according to police.

Lewis was charged with trafficking in drugs and possession of drugs and is housed in the Middletown City Jail.

Lewis is a “known dealer,” said Middletown police Sgt. Jamie Wilcox. He was also on furlough from a halfway house in Hamilton at the time of his arrest.
