Power restored to 60 residences in Harrison Twp.

UPDATE @ 7:58 p.m.

Power to the 60 residences was restored about 7:30 p.m., according to Dayton Power & Light spokesman Tom Tatham.

INITIAL REPORT

Sixty residences in Harrison Twp. are without power, while the area remained under an excessive heat warning.

Dayton Power & Light said the residences are all in the area of the Meadows of Catalpa, a 323-unit apartment complex on Indian Run in Harrison Twp.

The utility company planned to have the outage, reported at 2 p.m., back in service by the end of the day Saturday, spokesman Tom Tatham said. The repair was delayed because equipment was needed to fix an underground fuse, he said.

“We certainly appreciate those folks’ patience,” Tatham said about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. “It’s certainly going to be well into the evening.”

While focused on restoring the power, Tatham said DP&L was contacting affected customers to alert them that the outage could continue into Saturday night, in case they wanted to find somewhere cooler to go.

The National Weather Service extended through 8 p.m. Sunday an excessive heat warning for Montgomery County and a heat advisory for the rest of the Miami Valley.
