By emergency C-section, doctors were able to deliver baby Christopher. He remains at Miami Valley Hospital where his condition has steadily improved since he was admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit, the family said this week.
Family members tell News Center 7 that Christopher is opening his eyes and is able to squeeze his grandparents’ fingers.
A prayer vigil is set for noon Saturday at the scene of the shooting, Danner Avenue and West Stewart Street.
Organizer Roger Emery said a carpool is to leave at 11:30 a.m. from the Precious Blood Church, at Denlinger and Salem avenues.
On Sunday, a special musical service to benefit Da’Lyne’s family will happen at 6:30 p.m. at the Breakthrough Anointed Ministries, 926 Conners St.
Pastor Christopher L. Heard said he hopes the community will come out to to help the family cover expenses incurred by the tragedy.
Police continue to look for the shooter. Police said they are awaiting DNA and ballistic tests to see if a gun beloning to a person of interest was used in the shooting. Throughout the investigation, homicide detectives have said multiple weapons were fired that night.
