- May 14, 1988: Twenty-seven people were killed when a wrong-way drunk driver slammed into a church bus in rural Carrollton, Ky.
- Aug. 28, 1987: A bus carrying handicapped children was hit broadside by a flatbed truck in rural Bronson, Fla. The collision ripped open the bus and knocked it off its chassis. Six people were killed, including the driver of the bus.
- Feb. 28, 1958: Described as the worst school bus accident in U.S. history, 26 students and the driver were killed when the bus struck a vehicle and plunged into the Big Sandy River in Prestonburg, Ky.
