Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for portions of Miami Valley, thousands without power

There is a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for Auglaize, Logan and Shelby Counties until 4:45 p.m. tonight. The National Weather Service reports winds could reach speeds of up to 60 mph.

There are several power outages reported in the area, with 1,323 DP&L customers without power in Miami County and 950 without power in Montgomery County. There are 229 DP&L customers in Champaign County without power and 797 customers in Shelby County without power, according to DP&L’s outage map.

Father’s Day barbecues may have to be put on hold today, as rain is in the forecast, mainly after 4 p.m., the National Weather Service reported. There are chances of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service said that gusty wind and torrential downpours are possible.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly before 7 p.m., the National Weather Service reported. Temperatures will range from the upper 80s to the upper 60s.

Tomorrow, the rain will continue, with chances of thunderstorms before 10 a.m. Between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., the chances are lower. Rain is likely throughout the day and evening.
