The local franchisee for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is considering looking for different locations in Kettering because of issues with a proposed site near Stroop Road and Far Hills Avenue.
At issue is the zoning of the location at 3910 Far Hills Avenue, which most recently housed an OinkADoodleMoo location. Kettering officials have previously recommended the project be denied.

RCO Limited, a franchisee of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and the local franchise operators for Ohio, told this news organization it will participate in the hearing but that if the zoning issues aren’t overcome, the project can’t move forward at that site.
“It has always been and always will be our intention to be the best community partner and be engaged and supportive in every community we have the opportunity to grow with,” RCO Limited said in a statemen. “We look forward to finding opportunities to join the Kettering community. Right now, we are focused on and excited for our second Dayton area restaurant opening on Oct. 30 in Beavercreek.”
City Planner David Roller said the developers had a hearing in front Kettering Planning Commission, which was the first step in a three-step process to review the proposed restaurant. City staff recommended to council following the hearing that the project be denied because it didn’t meet zoning code requirements.
He said City Council will hear the case at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 at its regularly scheduled meeting.
The proposed site would include the former OinkADoodleMoo restaurant at 3910 Far Hills Avenue, which shut down in August 2015 after failing to renegotiate its lease. The space previously housed a Chipotle restaurant and, decades earlier, the Kettering Village Inn.

The first Dayton-area Raising Cane’s location opened last summer at 1136 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Twp. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based chain operates multiple restaurants in the Columbus and Cincinnati areas.
