The Miami Twp. Zoning Commission voted Wednesday night to recommend reclassifying more than 60 acres on Austin Boulevard, including land the township is looking to sell to the humane society as a future site for a facility where cats and dogs can be adopted.

The township is looking to rezone 63 acres it owns at 2673 Austin just north of Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport, about 4 acres of which it is negotiating with the humane society on.

Township records indicate the humane society has agreed to the concept of buying the land for about $572,000. Miami Twp. Community Development Director Chris Snyder said the sale could close in the next several weeks.
