Ribbon-cutting Monday for new 180-seat restaurant

A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 1, for the Airway Kitchen, the restaurant that will open the same day in the former Ponderosa steakhouse building at 4918 Airway Road in the Airway Shopping Center.

“We welcome everyone to join us and share this happiest moment with us,” Hasan Kilic, whose family owns Airway Kitchen, said in an email. Kilic and his family also operate the Starlite Diner & Restaurant at 2627 S. Smithville Road in Dayton.

Kilic said the Airway Kitchen seats 180 and will open with 15 to 20 employees. It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, with hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Ponderosa steakhouse had operated at the site at Woodman Drive and Airway Road for 40 years, but it shut down abruptly in April 2014.

Monday’s ribbon-cutting is a Riverside Area Chamber of Commerce event.
