RTA offering full-service bike repairs

Greater Dayton RTA will now offer full-service bike repairs at its new Wright Stop Bike Shop downtown.

The agency will host an open house at 10:30 a.m. today to celebrate the repair shop opening.

The Wright Stop Bike Shop is located near RTA’s Wright Stop Plaza on Main Street in Dayton, which also houses the Link Dayton Bike Share facility.

RTA owns and maintains the Link Dayton Bike Share bikes.

A bike repair shop downtown at this location is “a perfect complimentary service for RTA to provide,” Performance Management Analyst John Hoff said in a release.

Many downtown residents use their bicycles daily to get to work, run errands or for exercise.

“Having a community resource for bike repair for downtown Dayton residents is a natural extension” of our current transit services, Hoff said in a statement. “We want all cyclists to take advantage of the new shop for repairs and safety advice. I believe the future of a robust downtown cycling culture revolves around bike shops.”

The three-person staff of bike technicians at RTA has 16-plus years of bike repair experience. The team also is receiving additional training from the Barnett Bicycle Institute for Bicycle Mechanics.

The repairs provided vary from tune-ups to complete overhauls. A full list of services and pricing is available at the shop.

Wright Stop Bike Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
