Several years ago, Paula Ivins Kingston’s grandmother ran a hair salon in downtown Lebanon. Ivins Kingston always had a dream to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps and in 2005 made that dream a reality when she opened the Lucid Salon.
Now with a new location, Ivins Kingston is styling Lebanon residents’ hair just a few blocks away from where her grandmother used to.
The Lucid Salon has moved to a new location at 3 S. Broadway in the heart of downtown Lebanon. The facility, which has been open for 7 years, was previously in a second story location on Mulberry Street.
“The new space is great because we have a greater visibility and it’s more accessible for our clients,” said Ivins Kingston. “A lot of people didn’t know we were even here before. In just a week of being on Broadway, we’ve received a lot of first time clients. The response has been 100 percent positive.”
Ivins Kingston has been a hair stylist for more than 30 years. After growing up in Warren County, Ivins Kingston worked as Creative Director for Aveda Corp, providing high-fashion hairstyles in Minneapolis and New York City.
“I like to think that we provide the best of both worlds,” Ivins Kingston said. “”We have the fashion forward aesthetics of New York City but the welcoming and friendliness of the Midwest. Lebanon is a great town to do it in because this place has a friendliness and small town feel.”
Lucid Salon employs 10 hair dressers and skin care expert. The salon also does nail work.
“We have the best staff in the whole world,” Ivins Kingston said. “We’re a very team-based salon and we could never be successful without everyone making their contributions.”
The best part of owning a salon is the creativity the job affords, Ivins Kingston said.
“The best part of the job is getting to meet all kinds of friendly people and be creative,” Ivins Kingston said. “We’re here to make people feel good about themselves and its exciting to be able to do that.”
