Investigators said the bus went down the ramp at highway speed, slammed through a concrete barrier and fell onto I-75 30 feet below.
Four players, the bus driver and his wife were killed. Authorities said eight others are in local hospitals in critical or serious condition.
At the high school where one of the players killed had graduated, students are getting help coping with the tragedy.
Cody Holp graduated from Tri-County North High School in Lewisburg.
More than a half-dozen counselors and pastors were brought into the school on Monday to help students cope with the loss of a former classmate.
Superintendent Bill Derringer said Holp’s death has made the atmosphere somber at the school.
Tri-County North will dismiss classes at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday so students can attend Holp’s funeral. The service is to begin at 1 p.m. at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.
