OSP: Tire fire engulfs semi, blocks EB I-70 in Brookville area

UPDATE @ 9:10 p.m.

Troopers said a semi driver hauling steel coils to Piqua tonight was driving on a flat tire when it caught fire and spread to the trailer.

The trailer fire shut down eastbound Interstate 70 in the Brookville area, and the interstate will be down to one lane for much of the rest of the night in the area of the 19 milepost because the burned out trailer has to be towed.

No injuries were reported. The driver’s name was not released and it’s not clear whether he will be cited.

UPDATE @ 8:45 p.m.

One lane is open and the fire has been extinguished on eastbound I-70 in the Brookville area.
