Those who want to participate must fill out an application which they can get at the West Carrollton Civic Center located at 300 E. Central Ave. or by going online at http://www.westcarrollton.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=385&Itemid=202.
The following requirements must be met:
• Income cannot exceed 80 percent of the federal median-family income standards. For a family of four, that figure is $49,350.
• The structure must be an owner-occupied, single-family residential unit.
• The grant recipient must be current on their City of West Carrollton income taxes.
• All outstanding property maintenance violations must be corrected prior to reimbursement.
• Grant recipients shall secure all required permits prior to commencing the repairs, which shall comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
• Grant recipients must provide documentation of payment for reimbursable expenses and all other documentation as required by the city.
Qualifying residents are eligible for up to $500 worth of paint and supplies. If expenses incurred are over $500, then the city will allow for an 80/20 percent reimbursement from $500 to $1,000. Garages are also eligible for painting. Approved homeowners will be awarded a voucher that can be redeemed at a local paint store.
As an alternative, residents can choose to receive ten percent of the cost of re-siding their home, not to exceed $1,000 per residence. If expenses incurred are over $1,000, then the city will allow for an 80/20 percent reimbursement of expenses from $1,000 to $1,500. Each homeowner who is approved for siding will be required to obtain three quotes. Once the siding is installed, the city will inspect the project.
