Christopher Littler, 16, was out of school on a snow day. He said he smelled smoke and noticed that the other house was on fire.
With the fire growing and getting worse, Littler knew that his disabled mother was upstairs in bed and was unable to get out by herself.
Fire officials said Littler managed to get his mother out of the house before she was injured. Some people who lived nearby rushed to help move the woman to a safe location.
Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control quickly.
Littler’s father arrived at the scene and credits his son with saving his wife from the burning home. He said his wife has celebral palsey.
At this time, fire investigators are not sure what caused the fire. They said the Littler’s house is a total loss.
The American Red Cross is helping the family.
