2018 Ohio Missing Child Report released

The 2018 Ohio Missing Children Clearinghouse Report was released today by Attorney General Dave Yost in recognition of National Missing Children’s Day on Saturday.

“I urge all Ohioans to take precautions to protect our state’s children, to act quickly to aid local law enforcement when someone goes missing, and to heed the children around to help ensure that they are cared for and safe,” Yost said.

According to the report:

  • 25,619 people were document missing, which included 19,879 children - 10,643 girls and 9,236 boys
  • 98.1 percent, a total of 19,510 children, were recovered safely and two were found dead
  • 19 attempted abductions involving 14 girls and five boys: 37 percent involved suspects driving vehicles; 61 percent happened between 2 and 7 p.m.; and 48 percent involved children walking to or from school
  • 10 Amber Alerts were issued for 19 children who were found safely
