Former OSU worker destroys artwork, kills self

A former Ohio State University employee destroyed artwork before fatally shooting himself this morning inside the Wexner Center for the Arts, Craig Stone, acting OSU police chief said in a released statement.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at 11:20 a.m. and found a deceased man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man’s name was not released, but he was last employed at the university in 2009, police said. The art center will remain closed until further notice.

Police are investigating a self-inflicted shooting today in the gallery of the Wexner Center for the Arts on the campus of Ohio State University.

The incident was reported around 11:20 a.m., and authorities told our media partner, WBNS-TV in Columbus that “the male suspect was not a threat.”

The name and condition of the man who shot himself were not available, and it’s not clear whether he was a student, the TV station reported.

The arts center remains closed and the investigation is ongoing.
