Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Gov. Ted Strickland are the latest politicians to take the ice-bucket challenge to raise awareness of Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Kasich said “I am doing this in memory of my friends taken by that awful disease.” The governor, in shorts and flip flops then poured a small bowl of ice water over his head.

Kasich then challenged Ohio House Speaker Bill Batchelder, Senate President Keith Faber, And Democratic House and Senate leaders Tracy Heard and Joe Schiavoni.

Faber has already accepted Kasich's challenge and he challenged Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, Congressman Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, and the other 32 members of the Ohio Senate. Watch Faber's video here.

Strickland, in a t-shirt, jeans and a ball cap, had a much bigger bucket of water dumped on him out on a public street.

“Give your money to ALS research,” Strickland said before having the water dumped on him.

He challenged Washington state Governor Jay Inslee, Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint, and CAP Action’s Benton Strong.

The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water and then challenging several other people to do the same. Those who don’t are to make a donation to a charity taking on ALS.
