State offers liquor laws education to campus-area bars

With Ohio students headed back to campuses in a month, the state liquor enforcement agency wants campus-area bars and other liquor establishments to schedule Alcohol Server Knowledge courses for their staff.

Getting bartenders and others educated on the state’s liquor laws and penalties is a proactive way “to protect your customers as well as your establishment,” Capt. Gary Allen, Ohio Investigative Unit commander, said in a prepared statement.

The ASK classes, which are offered at no charge, teach how to recognize false identification and rules about the employment of minors, according to the release.

More than 3,000 people who work at liquor-permit establishments completed the training last year.
