The Warren County Parks Board purchased the park with financial help from the State of Ohio, the Otterbein Community and Turtlecreek Township.
The purchase price was $4.4 million.
In an interview with WHIOTV.COM, Volunteer Naturalist and spokesman, Dave Woehr, said the joint effort between the parks district and its partners has worked well.
“The park is flooded with people who want to see it,” Woehr said.
A legislative panel was scheduled to approve $1 million in funding Monday through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
The park is located on SR 741 just north of Route 63.
Woehr said he and others are glad that the property could remain as a park, rather than go to residential development.
“We are happy to have it. It increased our workload in the park district quite a bit but it is worth it, Woehr said.
Warren County plans to formally dedicate the park with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, July 4.
The day-long Independence Festival will feature live music, a classic car show and fireworks.
“We just look forward to a good weather day that day to make the big event a success the way we want it to,” Woehr said.
