Taft Speaks At Groundbreaking Of Greenville Ethanol Plant

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft was the guest speaker Monday at the official groundbreaking for Andersons Marathon Ethanol LLC facility in Greenville. The plant, said Taft, "is good for Darke County, it's good for Ohio's economy, it's good for our environment, and it's good for our country as we reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Congratulations!"

The new ethanol plant is under construction in the Greenville Industrial Park off Sebring Warner Road on an 86.5 acre tract of land. The projected cost of the project is $190 million.

The new facility will produce 110 million gallons of ethanol annually, using 40 million bushels of corn. A byproduct of the the production of ethanol is 350,000 tons of distillers dried grain that will be sold to farmers to mix in their feed for livestock.

It is expected that the new ethanol plant will bring 40 new jobs to Darke County. The facility is expected to be in production during the first quarter of 2008.
