3 things to know about Cameo, site of deadly night club shooting

At least one person has died and another 15 were injured following a shooting at Cameo Night Club in Cincinnati early Sunday morning, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.

Police were called to Cameo in the 4600 block of Kellogg Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on a report of a shooting. Here’s what we know so far about the night club.

1. This isn’t the first shooting at the club

Cincinnati police Capt. Kimberly Williams said there have been “multiple problems” at Cameo in the past.

According to reports from our affiliate WCPO, Cameo has had issues in the past with violence. A shooting occurred inside the club on New Year’s Day 2015, and another in the parking lot that September.

2. Aimed at a younger crowd on weekends 

According to the venue’s Facebook page, Cameo Night Club provides “excitement and entertainment to the tri-state. College Friday’s are 18+ catering to the college students and Saturday’s 21+ grown and sexy night.”

3. Club hires extra security

Police Sgt. Eric Franz said the club hires police officers for extra security, according to our news partners at WCPO in Cincinnati. The night of the shooting, two officers were reportedly stationed at the club’s entrance and another two in the parking lot, Franz said.
