"At approximately 10:30 a.m., TMS students began evacuating the building to walk across the parking lot to the Tecumseh High School gymnasium. TMS students were provided lunch while waiting at THS."
Explosives-detecting dogs from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base were deployed. They and Clark County sheriff’s personnel conducted a full sweep of the building and did not find anything.
"The building was declared safe at approximately 12:15 p.m.," according to the statement. "Shortly thereafter, TMS students began walking back to TMS after they finished eating lunch. All students were back in TMS by 1 p.m."
The false alarm is one in a string recently in Clark County. Kenton Ridge High School has been the subject for three threats that were determined to be unfounded and the Springfield City School District has accidentally tripped four alarms that have sent police to school buildings.
According to a statement issued by the sheriff’s office, the case remains under investigation and anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 937-328-2560.
FIRST REPORT
Tecumseh Middle School students were evacuated to the high school Friday morning due to a threat found in the bathroom, officials said.
Superintendent Norm Glismann said the threat was found on a bathroom wall.
"Dogs are being called to check the school," he said in a text.
Law enforcement at this time does not believe it is a credible threat, he said.
Students will return to the middle school after the school is cleared by law enforcement, he said.
