Walmart's Cyber Monday deals on over 2,000 items kicked off Sunday night.

Gift card scam

Here’s a gift card scam I had never considered or even heard of until now.

According to AARP research, this thievery is quite simple.

Fraudsters go to a gift card rack and write down or scan the numbers on the cards. When an unsuspecting shopper buys the gift card (someone eventually will) the fraudster is able to call the toll free number, find out the card is activated, and drain the funds.

Find extra holiday cash

Are you short on cash for holiday shopping?

The Ohio Department of Commerce may have your money.

Over $2 billion in unclaimed funds are just sitting there waiting to be claimed.

The average claim is over $2,000 and could be from forgotten bank accounts, deposits for rent or utilities, and uncashed check, according to the ODC.

I checked and unfortunately there isn’t any dough for me, but the search is free, so what do you have to lose?

The ODC returned $76 million to Ohioans last year.
