The web site ranked the 100 most populous cities — sadly, or maybe not so sadly, Dayton is not among the largest 100 cities in the country, and therefore it wasn’t evaluated — based on a dozen metrics. Those measurements ranged from “number of coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés per capita” to “average price of a coffee pack” to the “Percentage of households that own coffee makers” to “Google search average for the word ‘coffee.’”
We’d like to think Dayton and its thriving coffee scene had something to do with the Queen City’s showing. Alas, we’d be wrong. WalletHub said it considered only the “city proper” in each study and excluded the surrounding cities in the metro area.
Cleveland ranked 31st, Columbus 60th and Toledo a mighty 99th.
