Tow truck business near triples on snow days

This latest bout of winter weather caused all kinds of problems for drivers Sunday night and into the morning.

Sandy’s Towing — which normally brings in 200 cars a day — records numbers of nearly 500 vehicles a day in severe weather.

NewsCenter 7’s Lauren Clark rode along Monday with a tow truck company that filled half a lot with wrecked cars from the weekend.

Ron Brocar, who’s been driving for Sandy’s Towing for 29 years, said he wasn’t surprised to still be taking calls Monday even as roadways were clear.

“If there’s snow or rain, we get a lot of accidents or winch-outs … there’s a little more money involved in that so that’s kind of good for the company and the employee for that matter,” Brocar said.
