Pedestrian killed on U.S. 35 worked, performed at Dayton club

Co-workers are putting together a fundraiser and celebration of the life of Timothy R. Wood, the man struck and killed while walking on U.S. 35 on Friday.

Wood, 33, of Xenia, was a bartender and performer at MJ’s on Jefferson in Dayton, company officials said.

“He was a very popular employee amongst our customers,” General Manager Bruce Lindsey said. “He is going to be sorely missed.”

Lindsey said Wood was the regional winner of a bartending contest put on by Stolichnaya vodka and competed in the finals in Key West, Fla.

The club will hold a “celebration of life” for Wood at 11 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, featuring multiple performers, according to a promotional flyer from the club.

Wood was engaged and had two children, according to Lindsey.
