UPDATE @ 7:40 a.m.

The driver of the semi will not face any charges, according to Sgt. Chris Crisafi, with the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Lebanon Post.

There was no other property damage, and the driver pulled over as quickly as he could and disconnected the trailer, Crisafi said.

Crisafi said the driver was hauling aluminum, which caused the fire to spread rapidly, but nothing hazardous was on board.

State troopers have blocked the exit ramp from northbound Interstate 75 to Ohio 122 near Middletown due to a semi fire.

Crews were dispatched just before 3 a.m. on reports of a trailer catching fire near the exit ramp.

Initial reports indicate the rear tires started the fire, which then spread to the trailer.

Police scanner traffic indicates the semi was hauling scrap metal and the driver was able to unhinge the cab from the trailer.

We have a crew heading to the scene and we’ll update this page when new information is available.
