Trotwood man to prison for Sidney bank robbery

Norton apologizes to family and the court

Shelby County Common Pleas Court Judge James Stevenson ordered 21-year-old Carl Bruce Norton, Jr. of  Trotwood to serve 8 yerars in prison on a charge of aggravated robbery.

He recently admitted to the June 18 hold-up of the Chase Bank on Michigan Ave. in Sidney. He then ran across the highway to a hotel where it took hours for police to talk Norton into giving up.

As part of the plea bargain in this case charges of four counts of kidnapping, inducing panic and receiving stolen property were dismissed.

The judge fined Norton $500 and gave him credit for the 126 days he has spend in the Shelby County jail awaiting trial.

Norton apolozied to his family and the court prior to being ordered to prison.
