Trotwood police are searching for at least two men they said held a man at gunpoint during an attempted home invasion. The victim told police the incident happened at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Westbrooke Village Apartments in Trotwood. “They came to the door and knocked a few times,” the victim told News Center Seven. “I didn’t answer. The third time they came back I opened the door.” The victim said a man with a gun was waiting on the other side of the door. He said the armed attacker pointed the gun at his face, but the victim was able to push him out of his apartment. The victim said his attacker fired one shot during the struggle. The bullet flew past the victim’s head and into a wall at the apartment. “I could be dead right now,” the victim said. “All I was thinking about was my daughter, her safety.” Neither the victim nor his 7-month-old daughter was hurt. The victim said he didn’t know either of the men who came to his door and had no idea why they targeted him. Police canvassed the area with a K-9 and found footprints leaving the scene. Investigators think the subjects involved in this attempted home invasion may have gotten into a car. Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Trotwood Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.
