Uptown parking meters return to two-hour limit

Twelve parking meters in the Uptown business district were converted from a 20-minute limit to a 2-hour limit on Monday. In addition, two 20-minute meters on East High Street and six 20-minute meters located near Miami University’s Campus Avenue Building (CAB) at 301 S. Campus Ave. are being changed to a 30-minute limit.

The City of Oxford parking enforcement staff surveyed Uptown businesses and their customers, who expressed concern that the 20-minute meters did not provide adequate time for patronizing Uptown businesses. Similar concerns were expressed by persons conducting business at the university offices located in the CAB, including the Registrar, Student Financial Aid, Bursar, and MU Parking Services.

Two 20-minute meters, located in the first block of E. High Street, will be converted to 30-minute parking, providing service to numerous businesses whose customers typically conduct short-term shopping.

All converted meters will be re-labeled to indicate the new time with a blue label for two-hour parking and a red label for 30-minute parking.
