Police name suspect in Franklin purse snatching

Franklin Police have identified 57 year old Franklin Azbill as the suspect in Monday’s robbery of an elderly female on N. Main Street. Azbill is 6’0’’, 190 pounds with red hair and green eyes.

FIRST REPORT

Franklin police are investigating a robbery attempt Monday morning.

Around 11 a.m. Monday, a woman was walking into a business in the 200 block of North Main Street when a male grabbed her purse and took off running, police said.

A witness with a concealed carry permit saw what happened and pulled out her gun to stop the theft in progress. The suspect dropped the purse and continued to flee on foot, according to a press release.

A police dog was unsuccessful in tracking the suspect.

The male suspect is described as a middle-aged white male, tall, medium build, wearing a tan ball cap, black shirt, and black or gray shorts. If anyone has information about this case, contact Detective Scott Brown at 937-746-2882 or leave an anonymous tip at 937-743-1847.
