Vectren called for gas leak in Troy

UPDATE @ 11:45 p.m.

A crew working to replace a sewer basin accidentally struck a Vectren gas line and caused a leak at West and Garfield streets.

The smell of gas pervaded from the industrial area and wafted over the town.

Baker reports the leak is now under control and no one is without service.

FIRST REPORT

Fire crews in Troy were called out to look for a gas leak this morning along South Dorset Road.

Public safety officers reported smelling gas in the area of Troy Christian High School and as far north as McKaig Avenue, according to scanner traffic.

Vectren was called to assist in locating the source of the leak and make necessary repairs.
