Vectren to relocate New Carlisle gas meters

Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio will spend more than $220,000 this year to relocate about 110 indoor residential gas meters in New Carlisle to outdoor locations next to customer homes, according to a media release.

The New Carlisle project is one of several improvements being made during Vectren’s multi-year plan to modernize its gas infrastructure throughout Ohio.

Officials said the work is scheduled to get underway in the coming days and direct customer notification is in process.

Relocating gas meters to the outside of homes allows for more accurate meter reading and billing, while also reducing the inconvenience to customers who currently must grant access to meter readers, said Colleen Ryan, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio president.

Premier Energy Services, a Vectren contractor, will perform the work. The project is expected to continue until the end of October.
