Video Released In Sidney Kroger Purse-Snatching

In January 2009, an Urbana man who was selling subscriptions to the Dayton Daily News at a Kroger store in Sidney helped to recover the purse of a Sidney woman.

The woman was the victim of a purse snatching. Now, News Center 7 has obtained the surveillance video from Kroger.

The incident happened on a Saturday afternoon when Nick Marino, of Urbana, was selling subscriptions to the Dayton Daily News.

The video shows that a struggle started inside the store and moved into the parking lot.

Jerrod Copeland, 28, of Sidney, was eventually arrested, charged with theft, took a plea bargain and is now serving 11 months in prison.

Sidney police said even though the outcome was positive, they would rather people be good witnesses instead of intervening because it could be dangerous.

Marino, who is a basketball coach in Urbana, said he does not consider himself a hero.
