WATCH: Downtown Springboro is transforming, and here’s what the progress looks like

Reconstruction of a major intersection in downtown Springboro is in full swing.

Milcon Concrete of Troy is rebuilding the roads with new lanes on both State Route 741 and State Route 73 in a contract worth more than $3 million.

The road widening is part of a larger project by the City of Springboro to improve former shopping center on the northwest corner that was once home to Homer’s IGA and other retailers. Three gas stations were also taken over by the Warren County Transportation Improvement District, which is managing the road project.

Developer Larry Dillin has been picked by Springboro to oversee redevelopment of the former shopping center at Springboro’s central crossroads — a project Dillin will handle in addition to Austin Landing South.

When the road work is completed in late 2018, motorists will have two turn lanes from eastbound Route 73 to north Route 741 and two turn lanes from southbound Route 741 to west Route 73.
