Venus and crescent moon close this week

If you wake up early, head outside before sunrise this week to see Venus and the moon.

An hour or so before the sun comes up, look to the eastern sky to easily find a crescent shaped moon close to a very bright star - Venus.

Depending on the time, the position of the moon and Venus may be a little different. On July 18-19, the moon will be above  Venus, but on July 20, the two will be so close you can't miss them. You'll know it is Venus because it will shine steady and bright.

Even without the moon, Venus is an easy planet to see before sunrise in the east this month.
