The olms is an aquatic salamander that has been called the name of the mythical beast because of its body shape, Science Alert reported.
Researchers found 50 to 60 eggs in Postojna Cave in Slovenia. More than 20 are potentially going to hatch over the next few days.
The amazing thing about the hatching is that the dragons, which have century-long lifespans, only lay eggs once or twice a decade.
When they do lay eggs, about 500 are produced but only two normally survive.
