Dr. Eugene “Dean” Imbrogno, owner of Medwork Occupational Health Care in Dayton, died unexpectedly Thursday, Sept. 8.

Imbrogno was 62.

Imbrogno was the medical director and head physician at MedWork since 1985. He became the sole owner, president, and CEO of the practice in 2007.

Since then, MedWork expanded to two locations and currently provides occupational healthcare to over 700 companies, and hundreds of thousands of Ohio workers (including some of Dayton’s largest employers - Mahle Behr, DMAX, Dayton Children’s Hospital, Fuyao, Kettering Health Network, Premier Health, Greater Dayton RTA and the City of Dayton).

In addition, he served as the medical director for several regional client companies and was an advisor to numerous state committees on worker’s compensation and occupational medicine. Until his sudden passing, Imbrogno worked tirelessly to improve work conditions and availability of preventative and acute treatment options for his clients and patients, company officials said.

Imbrogno was preceded in death by his father Edward, and is survived by wife of 36 years, Diane; and children, Dr. Brian Imbrogno, Tyler Imbrogno and David Imbrogno.

Services will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road Kettering. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike Dayton. Burial will follow at David’s Cemetery.
