Curious onlookers wanted to know what were in the pink boxes being delivered to downtown Hamilton locations and places throughout the city on Wednesday.

The big clue was that it was Valentine’s Day, so the clues led to Almond Sisters Bakery, which decided to come up with a litttle something extra sweet as a gift for people to deliver to loved ones.

What was in the boxes?

1 custom decorated sugar cookie

1 heart shaped geode

1 heart shaped death by chocolate

2 Cherry bombs (cherries wrapped in brownie, dipped in dark chocolate amaretto)

4 almond twists

1 pillow pastry

Mini red velvet ganache bars

Mini peanut butter explosion bars

And a dozen thumbprints

The boxes required an all-night effort to create

“We were up all-night,” said co-owner Jenni Hubbard. “The kids had to spend the night here at the bakery.”

Strong response

“We are delivering 70 boxes all over town,” Hubbard said.

Feedback has been immediately positive, she said.

“People have called saying that they just love the idea of sending these big pink boxes of love,” Hubbard said.

Loss of sleep creating pink boxes was worth it

“I love it, it was so fun,” Hubbard said. “We are so sleep deprived but we love it.”
