Wife Sentenced In Shooting Of Police Husband

A woman accused of shooting her estranged husband, a Trotwood detective, was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in prison.

Denae Barnett-Dexter pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault charges two weeks agao.

She admitted to shooting her husband, Det. Troy Dexter, at their home in Phillipsburg in August. The couple was reportedly going through a divorce at the time.

Troy Dexter had gone to the house to pick up his two sons. He survived the shooting after taking two gunshot wounds to the chest.
