Wilberforce University Announces Plans For New Dormitory

Officials at Wilberforce University announced Thursday that a new $6.5 million, 190-bed residential hall will be built on campus to accommodate an increase in enrollment.

The new hall is expected to open in the fall of 2007. The residence hall is to be built in the heart of the campus. The university said it also plans to convert some double rooms in other residence halls into single rooms.

The university has recently launched a fundraising drive to help cover construction costs. Last fall, Wilberforce increased its enrollment by nearly 17 percent to 1,166, which is the largest percentage increase among the Miami Valley’s private, non-profit colleges.
