Witness: ATV rider hits pole on Nicholas Road in Dayton

A witness said a young man, possibly a teenager, was riding an ATV on Nicholas Road when he lost control and struck a utility pole.

A Dayton medic unit placed the crash victim, who was not wearing a helmet, on a gurney and loaded him into a life squad and took him to a local hospital. His name, age and condition were not available.

Police at the scene in the 3800 block of Nicholas Road did not comment. However, city law prohibits all-terrain vehicles from being driven on roadways, so the victim likely faces citations stemming from the crash.
