Woman argues 4.0 GPA should lead to release in alleged Oxford bar assault

A 21-year-old Miami University student was charged with assault for allegedly hitting a Brick Street Bar employee in the face as he attempted to remove her for being too intoxicated, according to a police report.

Police were called to the bar at 1:43 a.m. March 15.

The woman was pointed out to the responding officer while standing on the sidewalk outside. She was told to sit down because she had difficulty standing, the report said.

The report noted she became extremely talkative while the officer completed paperwork and told him she should be released because she has a 4.0 grade point average and has had a 4.0 GPA since preschool. She offered to be released to Skipper’s Bar. She began talking about coding and became increasingly agitated, eventually using more colorful language and screaming at the officer.

Instead of being released, she was charged with assault and taken to the Butler County Jail.
