A woman was killed early Sunday morning in a Springfield double shooting that also injured a man.

The victim who died of her wounds at the scene was identified Monday as Racquel Fowler, 53, by the Springfield Police Division.

The shooting was reported around 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West Liberty Street, where officers found two people shot.

Fowler was shot twice in her upper thigh area and once in her lower left chest area, according to a Springfield incident report.

A 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot to the lower back. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, according to the incident report.

The man’s condition is not known and police as of Monday have not released the victims’ connection.

Police said the suspect was not at the scene when they arrived, according to the incident report.

The incident report states officers believe the shooting is linked to a burglary case in the 2000 block of Beatrice Street, and police on Sunday said they were looking into whether a crash on North Limestone and Ward streets was connected to the shooting.

Anyone who has information about the shooting is urged to contact police at 937-324-7680 or 937-324-7716.
