Woman Who Fears Her Children Will Be Stolen Arrested In Miami County

A woman from Muncie, Indiana told a judge Friday morning that she's been through a violent relationship, is undergoing a divorce, and she fears her three children will be stolen from her.

Thursday evening, Lisa Cummings, 31, was arrested by Miami County deputies on three counts of endangering children.

Cummings, two daughters and a son, ages 9, 11, and 12 had been living out of their car, crisscrossing several states.

In a court document the arresting officer wrote that Cummings "failed to provide adequate housing and basic necessities for normal hygiene and clothing" for her children.

Miami County Municipal Court Judge Elizabeth Gutmann set Cummings' bond at $10,000 cash on each of the charges. She remains in the county jail.

The judge also ordered Cummings to undergo a competency evaluation.
