The Air Force is a diverse organization, which includes Airmen of all different religious backgrounds, and the Chaplain Corps serves them all.
“The Chaplain Corps is here to serve everyone, irrespective of background, beliefs or tradition. We meet you where you are and through your lens of life rather than our own,” Quilala said.
As an Air Force chaplain, Quilala seeks to provide spiritual care by offering opportunities to exercise freedom of religion, provide confidential counseling, and hold resiliency and service events.
To Quilala, one of the most valuable of these duties is providing confidential counseling.
“The Chaplain Corps is the only agency provided by the Air Force that promises complete confidentiality,” said Quilala, “It’s quite significant for our Airmen to have an outlet without the worry about saying something which can impact their career or future.”
In addition to these services, the Chaplain Corps holds morale events on and around base, including hosting cook-outs and breakfasts and delivering gifts to children in hospitals.
This holiday season, the Chaplain Corps is heading to Dayton Children’s Hospital where they will pass out gifts and cards to ill children.
